5 Tips On Getting Dressed When You’re Working From Home

Need Tips On Getting Dressed When You’re Working From Home? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. It’s a fact that the world is currently mostly staying at home. And oh man, it can get ugly sometimes. At the beginning of the quarantine, there were three types of people: the ones who put everything except for their pajamas aside, the ones who managed to keep their pajamas and a clean shirt for Zoom conferences (no pants though), and the ones who were super productive, very busy and were changing clothes three times a day (work, work out, sleep).

You can also add a teleprompter app for Zoom to make your video more professional.

However, we are all evolving (or regressing?) into group number one. No matter how hard we try, there is little happiness and motivation left to keep up with our pre-quarantine routine.

Tips On Getting Dressed When You're Working From Home

We mean, why bother? Even though we used to say that we dressed up for ourselves and not for others, let`s face the hard truth already – we dressed up for someone. Now that no one except for your family can see you wearing the same pajamas for three days without taking it off, you do not even care about how you look anymore. Moreover, working from home can get even more stressful and tiresome, and you physically do not have the energy to get pretty. We totally understand that.

Yet, that is… wrong. No, not just because your family is grossed out a bit. Getting dressed has a lot of benefits: it boosts up your productivity, keeps you focused, but more on that later.

    What should I wear then?

Here are 5 tips on getting dressed when you`re working from home

    1. No Pajamas

That is obvious for now, we guess. Wearing your pajamas messes up your work-life balance. It seems like you are working constantly, yet, you can not really focus. A lot of people report that they are stressing out about working without day-offs but then… it turns out that they are mostly using social media or talking to relatives.

And your pajamas are to blame. Your body cares about the atmosphere: where you are and what you are wearing. You are at home and you are in your pajamas – it is not a working atmosphere at all. That is appropriate if you are scrolling dating sites or watching a movie, but for sure not working. So after we wake up – we take off our pajamas. That is a rule.

    2. Keep It Cozy

Not wearing your pajama does not mean ironing your pencil skirt and getting tight blouses. Times are not the best right now, the mental state of many people is getting worse. That is why it is so important to keep yourself happy with little things. Pleasant fabrics as cashmere will do their job. Stretch-fit jeans, leggings, soft knit T-shirts are a way to go. Cozy clothes will also save your time: you are not really investing in choosing what to wear, but you do not look like as you have just woke up.

    3. Little Beauty Routine

A part of women`s morning routine is makeup. Psychologies all over the world advise you to keep up with your normal routine. It makes you feel like coronavirus is not interrupting your life. While staying at home, it is easy to lie around and watch Netflix TV shows constantly. Maintaining a routine is a way to avoid that.

It should not be a full-blown makeup with foundation, highlighter, and tons of cream. Just apply some eyeshadow and touch up your lips. Or actually, you can go with a usual routine if it makes you feel good!

If you have not used makeup products before the quarantine, do not start now. Or do if it was the skill you have always wanted to get but never had time to.

    4. Experiment

The last piece of advice was a little bit bland, wasn`t it? Yet, quarantine is a perfect time to experiment with your look. It is true that your colleagues do not really care about what you are wearing (have you noticed that you are looking mostly at yourself during video calls or is it just us?).

That is why you can experiment all you want. Do you have blouses or tops that you were always afraid to wear in public? That is the right time to wear them! Did you always want to start wearing bright colors? Do it today!

This advice applies to anything, starting from the wide-leg fit of jeans to painting your nails in something other than black.

    5. Do Not Worry about Repeating Outfits

As we have already noticed, no one is watching and no one is judging you. Do you see Bill from the financial department over there? He has probably woke up 10 minutes earlier and put a jacket on. He surely wears sweatpants. And Mandy, the fancy chick? It is probably her pajama T-shirt, not a regular one. So if you wear the same shirt twice or thrice a week, people will still adore that you are finding the energy to change from your nightgown.

So working from home requires some more effort than staying at home but at the same time, please, do not wear things you do not want to. Be kind to yourself, and while maintaining your usual routine as much as possible, do not repeat exactly what you were doing every day. Your mental health deserves more than that.

Dressing up while working from home can be also a lot of fun! Experiment with new textures, colors, and shape without being afraid that your colleagues or random passers-by will judge you.
