Less than a week ago Google launched its Google Street View feature for Google Earth and Google Maps for South Africa. I’ve decided to do a post now and then to point out some interesting things I’ve found using this feature. It’s a really a nice geek toy and I’m proud of using it (although privacy activists might disagree). Today’s Google Street View Photo features the Union Buildings in Pretoria, South Africa (one of my favorite buildings in South Africa). If found this by searching for ‘633 Church Street’ on Google Maps.
The Union Buildings have been a part of the Pretoria Skyline since 1913. The buildings were designed by Sir Herbert Baker. The South African National Film, Video and Sound Archives is also located in the grounds of the Union Buildings, adjacent to the Police Memorial.
