Before I get all promo on your arse, I just have to say that I’m very excited about this and I’m extremely happy that I’m part of the Grind Radio team. You’ll find out why when you read the rest of this article. ..
There are a few events in history that changed the course of human kind. The day Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon. The day Jimi Hendrix was born, the day that “Smells Like Teen Spirit” met my eardrums and the day The Grind Radio went live. Ok, so the latter has not happened yet, but this coming Monday (the 14th of April 2014), that all changes.
So, what exactly does ‘going live’ entail? This means that the Grind DJ’s and Management are fed up with the state of radio and the absolute bullshit you (the listener) are subjected to. We have had enough of too much talk and less and less music. We have had enough of the mindless opinions of commercially driven nitwits, with a false sense of entitlement just because somebody gave them a microphone and an audience that has no other option then to listen to them. So, in the words of Dee Snider and Twisted Sister “We’re not gonna take it anymore!”
From the 14th of April 2014 The Grind Radio will be broadcasting live from Aandklas in Hatfield, Pretoria, South Africa. We will still be online and can be streamed from anywhere in the world. Our broadcasting times will be from 9 AM to 9 PM weekdays. We will still have shows that only play music, with no DJ to spoil your fun, but we will also have a couple of shows a day that have a DJ to keep you entertained. As the station becomes more established, DJ’s will become a regular feature on the station, but we will never let the focus of this station deviate from the most important element of radio…the music! We look forward to this journey and you are more than welcome to pop-in and say whats-up at Aandklas, you’ll find us at the back, across from the deck. Come and have a beer, listen to some great music and be part of something big.
In case you you were wondering, you can catch me LIVE on the Grind Radio on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 PM. The two shows that I’m already doing on the station will still go ahead on Tuesdays (from 1 PM to 3 PM) and on Thursdays (from 1 PM to 2 PM), so make sure that you tune in.
