The much anticipated 4 th studio album ‘Here is a Knife’ by The Black Cat
Bones is set for release this Friday, 16 November 2018. The album is engineered and produced by bassist Chris van der Walt.
“Here is a Knife” is a 12-track offering. It has already enjoyed regular airplay for the first 2 singles: ‘The World’s in the Halos’ and ‘Turn of the Century’. The songs respective music videos were filmed and directed by the acclaimed ‘Image Engineer’ aka Fred van Leeuwen.
Gareth Wilson has the following to say about the band:
“While I wholeheartedly agree that The Black Cat Bones are one of the most outstanding live acts this country has ever seen, the main reason I fall in love with them over and over again is the gritty humanity in their songs. They write songs about issues that the working man can relate to and like those issues, the sounds are often rough, relentless and take no prisoners. Bands like this are few and far between nowadays.”
The Gauteng-based four-piece proudly admits to a somewhat out of the box approach to their new material. They are showcasing the natural evolution of their sound while retaining their core origins. The album also features celebrated guest artists Piet Botha and Albert Frost. There’s also a track featuring the honeyed voice of rising star Adelle Nqeto.
The official Gauteng launch will take place at Moonshot Café in Pretoria on 15 November. The Radium Beer hall will be playing host to the Johannesburg leg on 01 December. From there the band will take their newborn on the road with a 15-date coastal tour from 14 to 31 December 2018.
The Black Cat Bones will be performing a selection of the new material as well as some of the old favorites. The album will be made available on all digital platforms from 16 November 2018.
