More info about House Of The Dragon
George R.R. Martin found inspiration for the plot of House of the Dragon in the English Civil War of the 12th century, with a particular focus on the rivalry for the throne between King Henry I’s daughter Matilda and her cousin, Stephen.
Five days after the first episode aired, the show was renewed for a second season. At that time the show already had 20 million viewers. The first season of the show took 10 months to shoot. It was predominantly shot in the UK.
The overall production budget of the first season of House of the Dragon was nearly $200 million (under $20 million per episode). By comparison, the first few seasons of Game of Thrones only cost about $6 million per episode to produce, while the final season had a price tag of $15 million per episode.
