Want to a make a difference in the world? Find out how you can do just that…
This world of ours is still a long way from being a just place. Many people still live lives lacking basic provisions and are forced to stay in conditions beneath their dignity. Some are victims of the system, others have suffered abuse.
Sometimes, I almost feel guilty for having a comfy, cushy existence. I have worked hard for my position but I have also had a considerable dose of luck. Others were not so fortunate. This is why I always feel an urge to help and actively seek out ways to make the world a better place.
Find out how you can make life less difficult for some
Even though I have been rather sheltered from harm throughout my life, I can strongly sympathize with those who’ve been through a lot. Still, I didn’t always know where to direct my efforts and where my help was needed the most. Doing your research could make a huge difference.
A charity in your area could be doing a great job and be in need of a pair of hands. A women’s shelter or an organization aiding the refugees could also prove a great way to make people’s lives less drab.
Care homes tend to be understaffed so this is always an option. Know yourself, know how much time and effort you can invest, and look for the right charity that will allow you to make a difference in the world.
Volunteer to help the homeless
Homelessness tends to be a big problem across the country. Exorbitant house prices and prohibitive rents have driven many people onto the streets. This disbalance on the market may last for years.
The situation is only going to get worse, especially in bigger cities. More homeless people need help than perhaps ever before. Volunteering in a shelter or handing out food in a soup kitchen could be an excellent way to put yourself to good use and make an enormous difference in people’s lives.
It doesn’t even require any special skills – just a will to help. The experience could, however, be of benefit to you too. It can help you get a better job further down the line, especially if you are interested in working in social services or the charity sector.
Donate some money if you are short on time
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to give so much of their time. In the last six months or so, my work schedule has become so hectic that I have been unable to either take a day off nor go out and volunteer at my favorite charity.
It has become beyond frustrating. I was looking for ways I could still help a bit and found this list of apps that have given me a bit of inspiration.
Instead of being physically present, I have decided to start donating – at least until my schedule frees up a bit. As people tend to say – if there is a will, there is a way. Donations are always needed so this too is a good way to make a difference.
The urge to help others less fortunate than ourselves is perfectly natural. The world is, after all, in dire need of helpers and healers. Finding a worthy cause to support shouldn’t be too difficult, especially in the age of the internet.
Helping the homeless or volunteering at a women’s shelter could make a huge difference. Find your perfect charity, offer some hands-on experience, or even donate a bit of cash if you’re short on time. Every little bit counts and can make someone’s life a lot less difficult.
If you’re struggling to design an app or website, it might be a good idea to make use of a UX Studio.
