    How to Find the Best Workout App

    How do youn find the best workout app that are out there? It’s a fact that staying fit is a top priority to keep your health and body in check. Of course, the hype around staying healthy and in good shape is not the sole reason why people do sports. Some decide to exercise purely out of boredom.

    Remember the beginning of the lockdown? Yes, many people thought they would start doing sports regularly, and a lot of them abandoned the idea after the first try. However, there are also those who changed their lives for the better simply because they didn’t have much to do except for studying/working remotely and sitting in their apartment for weeks.

    A lot of students who had to move from the campus for an indefinite period of time also thought that then, it would be easy to do all their homework in time or even beforehand. Yet, the opportunity to get homework help by WritePaper didn’t lose its relevance. The thing is, it’s hard to concentrate on writing an essay when you’re too stressed.

    In addition, it’s not always about time. You may have all the time in the universe and still fail to complete a small paper because you’re exhausted from similar assignments. That’s why you need a break for some other activities.

    Sports are a good way to overcome stress. Those who manage to free up some time for exercising get a useful habit and an opportunity to unwind. These days, it’s not a must to go to the gym or work with a personal coach. Sometimes, all you need is a good app that guides you through.

    Here are a few tips to find the best Workout App

    It Should Offer Flexibility

    A good workout app should provide several options of complexity to choose between. It sounds obvious as most applications have this feature – they do ask you what level you’d like to choose. Yet, the problem is that usually, you choose that level and can’t simplify some exercises that are too hard for you in particular.

    What if you ace about five exercises out of ten and do the rest incorrectly simply because you don’t know the easier options. Sure, you can repeat the same workout or come up with your own, but you won’t be as productive then.

    It’s also desirable that the app has a list of the goals a user has in their mind. If it’s not about a particular type of activity like stretching and has a list of programs, it should ask you what your purpose is. For instance, a set of exercises for weight loss and the one for growing your muscles presuppose different schedules and types of activity.

    Workout Apps 2

    Visualization of Movements Is a Must

    Written instructions placed under pictures are not the worst option, but they are definitely not enough for a proper workout. The first thing that may come to your mind now is that videos would be the best. They are really good, and some apps have video instructions in addition to the written ones.

    However, videos can slow down the workout app, and a lot of extra manipulations are needed to avoid it. Often, it’s just not profitable to invest so much effort in applications, so developers resort to gif files that provide you with basically similar instructions as in videos but using fewer frames per second. In case the visual items do not distort body proportions and move slowly enough for one to keep up, they will help you mirror the movements successfully.

    It Should Give You Tips

    Audio feedback is crucial for one to have smooth training and not get distracted when it comes to workout apps. It’s not always comfortable to place your phone on the floor or somewhere you could see the pictures shown. So, your virtual coach should basically predict the mistakes you might make during practicing and things you need to hear.

    The presence of tips such as ‘stare ahead,’ ‘do not tilt your head,’ and ’30 seconds left’ are a sign that the exercises were not randomly included but also tested on real people whose concerns were taken into account. A section of frequently asked questions is also a good sign and very important for users. With its help, users can quickly find an answer regarding possible issues or rules instead of googling them.

    Check Out the Warm-Up Exercises

    It goes without saying that warm-up is integral to any physical activity. Muscles require some preparation. Without the latter, you won’t be able to have a proper workout. At best, some exercises will be almost impossible to do. At worst, you may get hurt. So, make sure that warm-up is always a part of a session and that it lasts at least five minutes.

    Workout Apps

    It Shouldn’t Overwhelm You

    Everything is good in moderation. To get the best results with an app, you need to have rest days as well as customizable rest time between exercises. Also, you should be able to fine-tune the notifications so that they do not annoy you but remind you about the upcoming training and provide an opportunity to postpone it if necessary. User interface features are extremely important in this case.

    Detailed Progress Tracking Is a Big Plus

    It’s easy to lose motivation when you don’t see progress, and it’s a common thing for beginners. The thing is, the human body doesn’t respond to exercises as fast as we’d like to. It takes about a month of regular practice to see the changes. Not everyone makes it to this moment. So, you need an workout app that shows:

    • how many calories you burnt;
    • how long you practiced;
    • what exercises you completed exactly;
    • how many workouts you’ve completed in total with this application.

    Takeaway

    When choosing a workout app, consider all the points above as well as your unique needs. Obviously, you won’t find a perfect app that ticks all users’ needs regarding the voice of the virtual coach or UI features. However, if the core elements allow for productive sessions and do not annoy you, it must be enough.
