Great news! The Western Cape is playing host to a brand new music festival in November 2015: River Republic. The festival is brought to you by Red Hot Events (the same team who brings you Up The Creek every year). The festival will take place from 27 to 29 November at the Round The Bend Camp on the Breede River (just outside Swellendam).
Annie Sowden, owner of Red Hot Events explains “We have taken our experience to create something new not only for punters but also for our team. Our philosophy is to have fun and to constantly reinvent ourselves. After all, variety is the spice of life. Round the Bend, a space with rolling green lawns along the river banks, is arguably one of the most fun places on the planet to organise a party. With only 1500 spaces available, we cannot think of anything nicer than 3 days of cool music vibes with our fellow republicans!”
Calling all facial-hair-bearing hipsters, jaunty jocks, burlesque beauties, fancy freelancers, busy business people, or anyone else who loves some fun: It’s time to run away to the river for one weekend of beats, mayhem, mischief and magic. Meet new people and make friends for life, and for a while forget your city strife. Let the music keep playing with a shake and a shiver, and you’ll be ever so grateful you came to the river.
River Republic will be a place where time slows and feet are moved by the rhythm of the river and the movements of the sun, where people laugh and scream and dance and dream and there’s no hate or sadness or horror or badness, just joy, electro, light and delight. Catch your most loved local musicians, both DJs and bands, and play chess on a dance floor quite chequered and grand.
So far, the festival line-up includes The Kiffness, Grassy Spark, Jackal & The Wind, Kings Down South, Hugo.Hugh, Private Life, Stone Age Citizens, The Vanilla, The Liminals and Toby2Shoes. More acts will be announced soon.
General camping tickets sell for R850 and pre-pitched tents, chalets and self-catering units are also available. For more information, visit the River Republic website, check out the River Republic Facebook Page or follow @RiverRepublic on Twitter.
