Since my last post covering Jack Parow the Afrikaans rapper has become very popular in South Africa, doing various radio interviews on Highveld Stereo and other radio stations the country. He was one of the acts performing at RAMFest 2010 Jhb earlier this year (an event I attended). This song featuring Jack Parow and Fokofpolisiekar frontman Francois van Coke will be released on Jack Parow’s self-titled studio album (which is scheduled for release at the end of April / beginning of May 2010).
Dans, Dans, Dans (translated as “Dance, Dance, Dance”) is destined to become one of the biggest songs of the year and is already receiving much deserved airplay on South African radio stations (particularly 5FM and Tuks FM in Gauteng). There’s definite hype in South Africa for his first album. The album will also feature collaborations with Die Heuwels Fantasties and Le-Roi Nel.
This is the preview video for Dans, Dans, Dans posted by Woelag earlier today. The video features some footage from Jack Parow live shows (one of them at Hatfield Square in Pretoria). The actual music video will be released at about the same time as the Jack Parow album.
You can pre-order the Jack Parow album from Look & Listen for R114.99. You can also SMS “jack” to 34348 (in South Africa) to pre-order the album. Jack Parow has more than 40,000 fans on Facebook, his music video for Cooler As Ekke has over 480,000 views on the popular video sharing website YouTube and he’s got upcoming tour scheduled to the Netherlands in July 2010.
He truly has climbed the musical ladder this year. Fans of Jack Parow in the Netherlands can look forward to his shows at Melkweg in Amsterdam on the 1st of July, at Effenaar in Eindhoven on the 2nd of July, at New Attractions in Groningen and Tivoli in Utrecht on the 3rd of July and at the Metropolis Festival in Rotterdam on the 4th of July.
