Less than two months ago Converse opened entries for Get Out of the Garage 2013. A staggering 324 acts submitted their singles to be judged by three SA music aficionados; Catherine Grenfell, Reason and Jon Savage. They cut the list down to 10 of the best and SA music fans voted for their favorite acts over the last few weeks. A total of 7403 votes were cast for South Africa’s hottest unsigned acts in 2013, while the winning act for Get Out of the Garage 2013 received an impressive 1872 votes.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Jordi (who was featured on this blog on last week Thursday) has been announced as the 2013 winner of the Converse Get Out of the Garage. He’ll truly be getting out of the garage the next few months as he heads to London to introduce his unique South African taste of music to the rest of the world. Jordi is going to play Rocking the Daisies 2013, at London’s Iconic 100 Club and record at Rubber Tracks in New York City. In case you missed the first article about Jordi, have a listen to “The Garden” below:
Make sure that you check the Converse Facebook page and @Converse_Africa on Twitter for regular updates about Jordi’s musical journey over the next few weeks. I’m really hoping that Gauteng music lovers get a chance to see him live over the next few months. I have a feeling that Jordi’s music will go down well at Park Acoustics and Arcade Empire.
