A while ago I featured a song by English folk band Mumford & Sons. Their song The Cave got me completely hooked on their tunes. They released Sigh No More (their debut album) in October 2009. Local station Tuks FM started playing the 2nd single off this album a week or so ago. Little Lion Man is bound to become a number one on the only rock station in South Africa. The song is bloody awesome.
Songs by Mumford & Sons have been used in television shows like One Tree Hill, Grey’s Anatomy, Being Human and Stargate Universe. I’ve heard some great things about their live performances and I think that it would be awesome if they played a few gigs in South Africa (in the near future of course). Little Lion Man was ranked in first place in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2009 (an Australian music poll and the largest in the world) with over 800,000 votes cast in total. It won by the largest ever margin in the history of the competition. The song was the debut single which was released in the UK in September 2009. The song was also nominated for Best Rock Song for the 53rd Grammy Awards.
This is the music video for Little Lion Man:
