Mumford & Sons are an English folk band formed in October 2007 in London in the UK. Multi-instrumentalists Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane make up the members of Mumford & Sons. The band released their debut album entitled Sigh No More in October 2009. The band are known for energetic live performances packed with spontaneity, varying setlists and impressive musical ability.
Songs by Mumford & Sons have been used in television shows like One Tree Hill, Grey’s Anatomy, Being Human and Stargate Universe. Thanks to extensive airplay on local Pretoria-based rock music radio station Tuks FM I was introduced to the music of Mumford & Sons in late December 2010. The song featured in today’s post, The Cave is the song that has hooked me on this band. It’s one of my favorite songs at the moment. The Cave was actually released as the third single from their debut album in March 2010 in the UK. Sigh No More has peaked at number 1 on the Australian & Irish Album Charts and Number 3 on the UK Album Chart. I’m hoping to hear a lot more from Mumford & Sons in the future. Let’s hope they decide to swing by South Africa sometime for a tour sometime in the near future.
