A while ago I told you all about the new Blink 182 album (which will be released on the 1st of July 2016). The album was recorded at Foxy Studios in California between January and March 2016 with John Feldmann. He’s the group’s first new producer since longtime collaborator Jerry Finn.
It’s definitely one of the most anticipated album releases of 2016 and excitement about the new album (entitled “California) went into overdrive on Monday when Blink 182 released a music video for the first single off the album, “Bored to Death”.
The video features Tom Delonge’s replacement, Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba, playing with the two other members, bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker, in a dark club. Their performance is intercut with shots of an apathetic student fantasizing about what he’d rather be doing than sitting in class. Check it out below:
“Bored to Death” has already been doing well on Billboard’s charts. The new single recently became Blink-182’s highest debut single ever on the Alternative Songs chart. It’s been on the chart for six weeks and so far it’s peaked at number 2. “California” is available for pre-order here and comes with a complimentary download of the other two singles, “Rabbit Hole” and “Built This Pool.”
I have to admit that I’m pretty excited to listen to the new album. Let’s hope that it lives up to expectations.
