Over the last few years Old Spice has become renowned for their brilliant adverts. This brand new one (which was released only 3 days ago on the 3rd of January 2014) is entitled “Momsong” and is both funny and a little creepy at the same time. The original company that made Old Spice (Shulton, Inc.) was founded in 1934 and their first product (for women) was released in 1937, Old Spice for Men followed in 1938. In 1990 Shulton Inc. was acquired by Procter & Gamble.
The new Old Spice advert features various women portraying moms who are lamenting the fact that their sons have started the transition from being boys to being men. According to the advert it’s all triggered by an Old Spice product called Re-Fresh Body Spray. One after another the moms suddenly appear in the advert – one pops up on the beach under the sand, another hangs onto her son’s car as he’s driving, etc. Most of them appear when their boys are with their girls in the advert.
The advert has already racked up over 1.2 million views on YouTube and I’m expecting that to rise as we delve further into 2014. The advert was released just in time for the college football bowl games and the NFL playoffs in the USA. Check it out below.
