Twitter has made a huge impact on the global social media sphere since its launch in March 2006. Some folks might call this microblogging service utterly useless, but I tend to disagree. Well, put it to you this way, Twitter is my main source for breaking news, rugby and cricket score updates (when I’m nowhere near a television), an excellent platform for networking, a great crowd-sourcing tool and also a great platform to meet new friends.
Twitter has basically been changing the way I interact with folks online and offline since I started using it religiously in middle 2009. I prefer Twitter over Facebook simply because I find it way more interesting. Folks tend to be more direct, open and honest on Twitter. According to the latest online statistics, there are more than 300 million Twitter users globally (and more than 1 million in South Africa). Still think it’s useless?
