Passengers is an upcoming Romantic Science Fiction movie (scheduled for release in December 2016) and promises to be one of the coolest Sci-fi films of the year. In the film, a spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people has a malfunction in its sleep chambers. As a result, two passengers are awakened 90 years early.
The film is directed by Norwegan born director Morten Tyldum (who also directed 2014 The Imitation Game and 2011’s Headhunters) and the screenplay was written by Jon Spaihts (who also wrote the screenplay for Doctor Strange and Prometheus).
Passengers will feature Chris Pratt (who gained fame when he appeared in 2015’s Jurassic World and 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy) and Jennifer Lawrence (who gained fame for her role as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games films) in the leading roles. The film will also feature appearances by Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, Jamie Soricelli, Aurora Perrineau, Kimberly Battista, Shelby Taylor Mullins, Kevin Tan and others.

This look pretty damn awesome. Let’s hope that this film lives up to expectations. In case you did not know:
- The Passengers screenplay was featured in the 2007 Blacklist (a list of the “most liked” unmade scripts of the year).
- The story and screenplay for the film was developed at Keanu Reeves & Stephen Hamel’s production company Company Films.
- Keanu Reeves was attached to the lead male role in the film, but dropped out.
- Reese Witherspoon, Rachel McAdams and Emily Blunt were all, at different times, cast in the lead female role in the film, but dropped out during development.
What do you think of Passengers? Do you think that it has potential or are you skipping this one when it’s released in theaters? Leave a comment and let us know. Feedback is appreciated and welcome.
