Ponta Malongane Beach, Mozambique

At the end of May 2010 I attended the STRAB music festival in Mozambique. As I got up the one morning to take a walk on the beach on Ponta Malongane, I snapped this photo just after I experienced an Indian Ocean sunrise. It’s truly one of the most beautiful almost untouched beaches in the country. This photo has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo in the Photography category on Running Wolf’s Rant.

I’ve been to Mozambique twice and I really love this country. I can totally see myself going here at least once a year. The climate is great, the people are friendly and the vibe is just amazing. It’s a pity that this country had its fair share of Civil War for 16 years. Imagine how much could have been accomplished if they didn’t go through that period?
