Queens of the Stone Age announce new album

Great news rock fans! Queens of the Stone Age are working a new album entitled Villains. This is the follow-up to their 2013 album, Like Clockwork.

Josh Homme recently referred to the upcoming as “untempo” in an interview. He also described it as “a panther in the trees leaping out of the darkness.” Just reading these two phrases is already giving me goosebumps and I’m getting really excited about this.

The album title was revealed in an album trailer (which was directed by Liam Lynch). In the trailer, Josh Homme and the band take a polygraph test where they deny the LP’s title, but the machine detects their lies. Also revealed in the trailer is that Villains is produced by Mark Ronson (who has produced albums for artists like Adele, Lady Gaga, Duran Duran, Paul McCartney and a long list of others). Ronson appears in the clip. A snippet of the first single, “Feet Don’t Fail Me,” is also played in it. Watch the album trailer for Villains below.

News of the album precedes Queens of the Stone Age’s return to the stage later this month at Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest. They’ll play shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan in July before returning to the USA for festival slots at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival and Chicago’s Riot Fest.

Sadly there are no South African dates, but I’m hoping that they’ll come here next year to promote their album. No official release date has been announced yet, but it should be out before the end of 2017.
