A Quick Pre Mieliepop Chat With Johnny Cradle

Johnny Cradle (Sakumzi Qumana, Tebogo J Mosane and Chris Lombard) have been making waves in the SA Music Scene over the last few years. This Johannesburg based Roots Electro act was recently named as one of the acts that will be performing at Mieliepop 2017 (which takes place from 17 to 20 March 2017 near Lothair in Mpumalanga).

I recently had a chat to the band and this is what they had to say:

Where does the name “Johnny Cradle” come from?

It’s a Lorem Ipsum name for anyone who cares about anything positive within and outside of their immediate surrounding, loves fun, sex and is all about making things move. Move money, move people, move bass.

What have you been up to lately?

Recording our debut album which we’ve just finished and ready to release before you know it.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve experienced on stage?

People who’ve never heard of us vibing skrong to the music and even catching the lyrics first time.

If you could offer aspiring SA artists some advice, what would that be?

Bring interesting music back. The audiences seem to be in need of that lately.

What can music fans expect from your set at Mieliepop 2017?

A killerisation of the new Johnny Cradle album in all of its drummatic, scratchtastic, electronising Africanismatic glory.

I’d like to thank Johnny Cradle for this interview and I wish them all of the best with their set at Mieliepop 2017. If you don’t have your tickets yet, buy yours here
