Delta-8 products are now seen as a viable alternative to marijuana by a growing number of people. The Delta-9-THC in marijuana causes an intoxicating high, but so does D8, which may carry many of the advantages of its more potent counterpart.
These days, you can buy Delta-8 online with relative ease, with gummies and vape liquid among the most popular products. This article investigates the reasons why it is worth choosing D8 products.
Delta-8 Products Offer a Mild High
What’s notable about Delta-8 products is the relative mildness of the high. Yes, you will feel intoxication after using D8, but it is about half as potent as delta-9. This makes it an option for people who enjoy being high but have a relatively low THC tolerance. It can also be a somewhat gentle introduction into the THC world, as long as D8 products are used responsibly.
Various surveys of D8 THC users show that people generally feel less anxious and paranoid after using the cannabinoid compared to delta-9. The main experiences D8 users reported included euphoria, pain relief, and relaxation.
There were a few reports of adverse effects, primarily difficulties concentrating and a slightly altered sense of time. However, these side effects are less severe than what’s reported by marijuana users and also happen less frequently.
Overall, D8 products are less intense than marijuana. Furthermore, you’re more likely to be productive after using D8 because users feel more in control. However, please note that it is an intoxicating cannabinoid; if you use it before or during work, you could lose your job. Also, please avoid operating heavy machinery after using D products.
Delta-8 Is Federally Legal
The Cannabis sativa L. plant contains a minuscule amount of Delta-8, certainly not enough to warrant extraction. Therefore, manufacturers tend to chemically convert the CBD they extract from hemp via a process called isomerization.
Delta-8 products that come from hemp and contain a maximum Delta-9 THC content of 0.3% are now federally legal under the terms of the 2018 Farm Bill. A federal court confirmed this in May 2022. It is a huge boost for the fledgling industry and gives it a major advantage over marijuana which remains a federally prohibited substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
However, we must point out that states are free to pass their own laws surrounding D8 products, just as they are with medical and recreational marijuana. Up to 20 states have banned or restricted the use of D8, with most citing safety concerns. The Delta-8 market is unregulated; unfortunately, not every seller offers high-quality products.
Before you buy D8 products, check out the laws in your state. Also, ensure that the product comes with an updated third-party lab report.
Delta-8 Could Have Medical Benefits
D8 binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors within our endocannabinoid system (ECS). This affinity with the aforementioned receptors means delta-8 could have health benefits analogous to CBD and Delta-9.
There is a suggestion that delta-8 products could lead to an increase in appetite. Indeed, while Delta-9 is twice as potent, it seems as if D8 could give you a case of the munchies that’s twice as strong! Therefore, consider using D8 if you have a low appetite and need help in gaining a healthy amount of weight.
It is also possible that delta-8 has neuroprotective properties. Consequently, it may prove useful in helping neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Other potential benefits of Delta-8 products include the following:
- Improved sleep
- Relaxation
- Digestive support
- Pain relief
Final Thoughts on Why You Should Use Delta-8 Products
There is an abundance of D8 products available online. Users enjoy the smooth and pleasant intoxicating high that’s about half as potent as the delta-9 associated with marijuana. Also, D8 is now federally legal, in stark contrast to marijuana which has been federally prohibited in the United States since 1937. However, please note that a growing number of states have moved to restrict or outlaw the substance.
Finally, although research is ongoing, there are signs that D8 products could have health benefits like D9 and CBD.
Of course, it is important to remember that D8 is an intoxicating substance so use it responsibly. If you’re using it for the first time, take a small amount (5 – 10mg) to see how it impacts you. Don’t increase the dose until you’re happy that your current dosage is easy to manage.
