Once in a while you discover a band in the SA Music scene that surprises you with their charisma and their ability to deliver some really nice tunes. Red Tape Riot is one of those bands, and their song “Love is a Feeling” is one of those songs.
Red Tape Riot is a 4 piece band based in Cape Town who is best describing their music genre as “It’s Complicated”. The bands consist of John Battersby (on vocals and guitar), Rubin van der Rheede (on bass), Bosko Popovac (on lead guitar) and Marc Klein (on drums). The lead singer had this to say about their song “Love is a Feeling”: “It’s a heartfelt and upbeat piece with a deeper underlying melancholy. It speaks of great experiences lost, the feeling of helplessness in those times and the hope that emerges from the ashes.” I’m not a rocket scientist, but that’s pretty deep stuff if you ask me. Cape Townians should keep their eyes and ears open, Red Tape Riot play gigs regularly in the mother city.
Recently Red Tape Riot released the music video for “Love is a Feeling”. It’s an Enigma Ace Production which is directed by Ryan Kruger, produced by James Savage and edited by Stephen du Plessis. Check out the video below:
I think this is one of the freshest songs and one of the better videos that has come out in the SA Music scene in a while. I’m predicting big things for this band. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of them.
