Good news is that the streaming service’s Premier League package will maintain its current price of R69 per month.
Subscribers will continue to enjoy access to all 380 matches of the 2024/25 Premier League season, along with new offerings such as Robert Marawa’s Quantum Football series and exclusive Premier League content.
The upcoming season kicks off with high-profile matches, including Manchester City vs. Chelsea, Manchester United vs. Fulham, Liverpool vs. Ipswich Town, and Arsenal vs. Wolves.
Showmax CEO Marc Jury expressed excitement about the return of the Premier League and emphasized the company’s commitment to affordable streaming.
He noted that while pricing reviews are necessary for businesses, Showmax has managed to keep its Premier League and bundled plans unchanged.
The Entertainment package will continue to offer a diverse range of content, from HBO productions to various iterations of The Real Housewives franchise.
Marc Jury highlighted Showmax’s position as a leading investor in local original content, with 40 new Showmax Originals added since the February relaunch, spanning productions from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Several Showmax Originals have gained international recognition. Spinners became the first African series to screen at CanneSeries and won Best Foreign TV Series at the Shanghai TV Festival.
Catch Me A Killer was the first South African series to screen at Series Mania. The platform’s content has also received accolades at the Kalasha Awards in Kenya and the upcoming kykNET Silwerskerm Awards.
The streaming service also offers popular international content, including recent blockbusters like Barbie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Oppenheimer, as well as hit series like HBO’s House of the Dragon. Upcoming highlights include The Beekeeper, the Mean Girls musical remake, and Anyone But You.
The Showmax Entertainment package will return to its original 2015 launch price of R99 per month, while the mobile version will be priced at R45 per month. Showmax continues to enhance its viewing experience in collaboration with the global Peacock team.
