I had the privilege to attend 2 Skyroom Live shows last year on the top floor of the Lister Medical building in the Johannesburg CBD last year. It was a rad experience. The view from the top of the building was absolutely stunning and the vibe was awesome (even though the weather was a bit chilly at times).
Great news for SA Music fans is that Skyroom Live has announced that it has teamed up with South Africa’s biggest local television station, SABC 1. Skyroom Live is South Africa’s most popular live-streaming Internet portal. When the concerts start in February 2013, it will be the first ever live-streamed music concert series on South African television.
The first of 26 live concerts airs on SABC 1 on Saturday the 16th February at 10 PM and will include contributions from some of South Africa’s leading artists. The artists will all perform hour-long concerts. Apart from the first broadcast (which will be pre-recorded) all additional shows will be broadcast live.
The entrepreneurial company behind Skyroom Live is Mushroom Broadcast. They have quickly built up a reputation for being South Africa’s top live-streaming solution. They racked up 273,325 live views via live streamed content for the likes of Sony, Nike and Peugeot and concerts from The Parlotones, Jack Parow, HHP, Daniel Bedingfield, The Kongos, Pete Tong, Van Coke Kartel, Die Heuwels Fantasties, aKING and others.
SABC 1 was impressed with the unique concept that Skyroom Live is, the advanced Internet streaming technology and top MTV nominated music video Director Eban Olivier’s filming technique. SABC 1 is looking forward to produce a series for Skyroom Live that will revolutionise and modernise the broadcasting industry in SA.
According to IRocke (the most comprehensive source for live streaming concerts on the globe) Skyroom Live is rated number 16 in the world under American Express and Google, and is the only South Africa live-stream portal to be rated in the Top 50 worldwide! 2012 also saw Skyroom Live achieve world-class status as being in the Top 10 views across the globe under the ranks of Rihanna and Deadmau5.
SABC 1 are excited to bring their viewers a brand new concept that is current and relevant to the progressive society today. They encourage viewers to tune into this ground-breaking show. The Skyroom Live concept opens up a world of exciting opportunities for any type of event. This technology affords Skyroom Live the pleasure of being able to broadcast any event in 2D or 3D from anywhere in the world. They are pleased to be recognised as the team breaking new ground from South Africa’s soil.
Millions of fans will be able to watch the concerts from the comfort of their homes, but tickets are available for fans who would like to attend the live performances. Tickets are available via Computicket. For more information please visit the Skyroom Live website.
