Sony Playstation 5 Unveiled

Great news for games! Two versions of the Sony Playstation 5 game console were unveiled yesterday! An array of new games were also unveiled from the virtual stage. Sony showcased its next-generation line-up for the first time ahead of a holiday season showdown against the Microsoft Xbox.

Expectations are high for the PlayStation 5. Sony’s current system has dominated the video game market for the last seven years, selling more than 110 million units and overshadowing Microsoft’s efforts with the Xbox.

1. The gaming console has the most-advanced controller on the planet, the DualSense controller. The wireless controller has haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a headset jack, a built-in microphone and an integrated speaker. The sleek and modern design resembles a mini spaceship.

2. The Sony Playstation 5 has AMD Zen 2-based CPU which is supported by the 3.5GHz octa-core. It’s equipped with a 10.28 TFLOPs processor and 16 Gb GDDR6 memory.

3. The gaming console comes with a Pulse 3D headset, 1080p HD camera. a media remote and a charging port for the wireless controller.

4. The PS5 also has Ray Tracing, Ultra 4K HD resolution and 3D audio.

5. The device is tall and thin, colored white on its front and back, with a blue light and black accent colors on its sides.

6. The second variant of the PS5 (dubbed the Digital Edition) won’t have a Blu-ray disc drive. It will offer downloads as the only way to acquire new games. This move could hasten the transition to digital downloads and cut out retailers like Amazon, GameStop and Walmart. It has a sleeker design and is expected to be cheaper than the standard model.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales will launch alongside it. The game will focus on Morales, a mixed-race character at the center of the hit 2019 movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verseSony also announced a whole list of games for the Sony Playstation 5 which includes Gran Turismo 7, Hitman 3, Oddworld Soulstorm, NBA 2K21, Resident Evil Village and a remake of Demon’s Souls.

Sony didn’t mention pricing or a release date for the console, but confirmed that it would be launched later in 2020.
