The South African Airways “One Flag” Advert is still legit

This South African Airways advert with the theme “One Flag” was aired on South African TV and in movie theatres to promote the airline a few years ago.

South African Airways has become quite renowned for their adverts that conjure up a sense of national South African pride and this advert is no different. It really pushes my South African buttons, every time that I see it.

South African Airways

More info about South African Airways

South African Airways is the flagship South African Air carrier and largest domestic and international airline company in South Africa, with hubs in Johannesburg and Cape Town. In 1934, the South African government bought out Union Airways and renamed it to South African Airways.

I’ve never flown with South African Airways. I prefer using one of the budget airlines in South Africa. It’s just more affordable and less hassle. One can’t really call them budget airlines nowadays though, traveling via air is extremely expensive in South Africa. 45% airport tax is just ridiculous.

Sadly South African Airways’ funds have been largely mismanaged over the years. According to a recent report, SAA is currently technically bankrupt. The airline currently can’t afford to open up new routes.

One has to admire the South African Airways adverts of the past though. The “One Flag” advert (which was released a few years ago) was really awesome. Check it out below:

What do you think of this advert? Does it still make you feel proud to be South African? Leave a comment and let me know. Feedback is appreciated and welcome here.
