4 Reasons Why I Love Pretoria’s New Hangout Sowaar Bar

In case you did not know, Sowaar Bar is the capital city’s raddest new hangout. This live music venue / bar / restaurant is located in the Atterbury Boulevard Centre on Atterbury Road in Faerie Glen, Pretoria.

Sowaar Bar opened a few months ago and has already become a popular hangout with SA music lovers and punters who love watching movies and playing quiz.

Here are 4 Reasons Why I Love Sowaar Bar

    1. The artist / band line-ups are legit

Over the last few months Sowaar Bar has already featured performances by Jack Parow, Valiant Swart, Fuzigish, L.A. Cobra, Deadline, The Tazers, PH Fat, Caution Boy, Ruiter Piet & Die Partytjie, Zaan Sonnekus, Ruff Majik, The Klubs, Poeselig, Anton Goosen, Lectric Monks, Monkeys, Zebra, The Black Cat Bones and Van Pletzen. Expect some kief artist line-ups over the next few months.

    2. The venue hosts one of the coolest quiz nights in Pretoria

Every Wednesday is Quiz Night at Sowaar Bar and the prizes are legit. The quiz winners can walk away with R2000 cash. The runners-up get a R1000 bar tab and the team in third place get a R500 bar tab. Teams are allowed to have up to 6 members and bookings are essential. The quiz is hosted by Lloud Llama Events and the questions can be quite challenging at times.

    3. Sowaar Bar Has Some Kief Food & Drink Specials

There’s no shortage of food and drink specials at Sowaar Bar. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to see what you can eat or drink at a reasonable price. I can definitely assure you that their drinks are cold and their grub is tasty.

    4. The Sound and Lighting  Setup is Top Notch

Sowaar Bar’s stage might be tiny (compared to other stages in Gauteng), but their sound system packs a punch. The lighting setup is also legit. Photographers like me love a great lighting setup.

In a COVID-affected world where many venues / bars have been forced to close their doors and tons of artists / bands have been forced to hustle for a decent income, Sowaar Bar is a glimmer of light. Let’s hope that glimmer morphs into a shining beacon over the next few years.
