Square Enix DirectX 12 Tech Demo Released

Square Enix has treated us to a stunning DirectX 12 Tech Demo during Microsoft’s BUILD 2015 conference. The demo, named Witcher – Chapter 0 [cry], is rendered using four Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan X’s, giving us a glimpse into the future of gaming.

Hajime Tabata (Director of Final Fantasy XV) leads the demo and claims that Square Enix is consistently pushing the “absolute pinnacle in both pre-rendered and real-time CG.” Using 63 million polygons for each scene (12 times more than what DirectX 11 is capable of) the Tech demo looks near-photorealistic and also sports extremely high textures that uses 8k x 8k resolution.

Just as impressive is the the fact that every strand of hair on the witch’s head is rendered individually with impact lighting – giving us some ultra realistic eye candy to look at.

This demo clearly needs a beast of a PC to run , but that is what tech demo’s are all about – Pushing the hardware envelope in every sense. What are your thoughts on this Tech Demo? Let me know in the comments section.
