The Temper Trap to headline two SA music festivals in 2017

Great news! The Temper Trap will be headlining Lush Musical Festival (in the Free State) and Splashy Music Festival (in Kwazulu Natal) in 2017!

The Temper Trap have sold more than one million albums and their songs have been streamed more than 200 million times on Spotify and 20 million times on YouTube. They first came to prominence in 2009 with their acclaimed debut album Conditions, which, propelled by the global hits Sweet Disposition, Fader and Love Lost, saw them crash land into the charts in their native Australia, their adopted homeland of the UK, and worldwide.

The band’s self-titled second album, The Temper Trap, spawned the hits Trembling Hands and Need Your Love, and saw them catch the attention of the likes of Coldplay, Africa Express and the Rolling Stones, all of whom asked the band to join them on tour, whilst they also graced the stages of major festivals including Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Leeds, Reading and Coachella. In between they were nominated and won a number of prestigious ARIA Awards in Australia, as well as receiving a nomination for best international group at the BRIT Awards.

The Temper Trap recently released their brand new studio album Thick As Thieves which features the hit single Fall Together. Check out the video for the song below:

Lush Festival presented by OFM returns to Clarens on Easter weekend 2017. Taking place from 14 to 16 April 2017, Lush Festival organisers Breakout also announce the first of many local acts to grace its 3 stages at the festival. First to join the line-up are Jeremy Loops, Karen Zoid, Francois van Coke, Koos Kombuis, Fuzigish, Shortstraw, We Are Charlie, Kyle Watson and Chunda Munki.

Jeremy Loops also brings an explosive new performance to LUSH 2.0 with new songs due for release in 2017. Francois van Coke is set to release his new solo album in February 2017 and Karen Zoid has dominated 2016 as one of the year’s top live performers.

Anyone who has visited the small town of Clarens has experienced the tranquillity and beauty of its landscape as it’s nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Maluti and Rooiberg Mountains, a gorgeous setting once again for LUSH 2.0. Along with the music and entertainment hosted at the festival, activities on site will include trail runs, mountain biking, abseiling and more.

There are also a few exciting additions to Lush 2.0. After the overwhelming response to the first festival, Lush will have extensive camping and parking space as well as a load of other surprises. The added land incorporates four new fields all the way down to the Caledon River. The festival will once again host 3 stages with The Willows as the main stage, the dance stage located in The Woods and The Owl stage all on the festival grounds. Buy your tickets here

After a hugely successful re-launch earlier this year, the 2016 Splashy Fen Revival introduced fans, both old and new, to a fresh venue redesign, a star-studded line-up of international and local acts, and a unique festival program that unquestionably put the iconic music festival back on the map.

The Splashy Fen 2017 Phase One Acts include some of South Africa’s favourites: The Springbok Nude Girls, Jack Parow, December Streets and Desmond and the Tutus; plus 100 more acts to be announced in the months leading up to the Easter-weekend music festival.

In addition to the existing four stages, 2017 will see the inclusion of a Treehouse Stage and musical performance for every one and every taste. Impi Concept Events Business Manager Stu Berry is grateful to all those who showed their support in 2016, and is excited about all the new additions for 2017.

“For us, Splashy Fen will always be a masterpiece in the making,” says Berry. “Every year, we endeavour to do better, bigger, more fan-centric things than the year before. In 2016, we had yoga sessions and daily trail runs.

“In 2017, we’ll have yoga sessions, daily trail runs, meditation sessions, cooking classes and a Splashy Fen restaurant, where hungry fans can book a table for a seated meal. We’re determined to make the whole experience an awesome one that the whole family can enjoy, and which appeals to our broad spectrum of fans.

“For us, it’s the little things like this, coupled with the big-name international acts and the proudly South African musicians that will continue to make Splashy Fen a must-attend event on everyone’s calendar.” Get your tickets to Splashy Fen 2017 here.
