Some of you may look at me funny for saying this, but The Simpsons is still one of my favorite television shows. The show made its debut on American television on the 17th of December 1989 and is still running. To date 528 episodes (24 seasons) of the Simpsons has been broadcast on Fox. Before the show made its debut The Simpsons shorts appeared on the Tracey Ullman Show for three seasons (from 1987 to 1989).
The show was created by Matt Groening. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program and since 2009 it’s the longest running American prime time scripted television series. The Simpsons movie was also released in 2007 and was a huge success. The film brought in over $500 million at the box office.
