Tuks FM DJ’s Do Pretoria Proud

While everyone was getting amped up for RAMFest 2013 Johannesburg on Friday, 2 Tuks FM DJ’s got ready to tackle a quite impressive task. Starting on Friday at 1 PM, the Tuks FM Bang Bang Breakfast duo, Alex Caige and Cassy Clarke attempted the Guinness World Record for the Longest Radio Show.

The Tuks FM Duo’s target was 75 hours of non-stop broadcast and let’s face it folks, broadcasting non-stop for that long is not for the faint at heart. Luckily this event was sponsored by Bioplus. I’m pretty sure that  this helped Alex Caige and Cassy Clarke immensely throughout their journey this past weekend.

@BaasDeBeer and I were two of the many people who regularly checked up on Alex Caige and Cassy Clarke over the weekend. We made sure that showed our support, even though that meant doing so at 2 AM on Saturday and Sunday morning (after we arrived in Pretoria from RAMFest). Like us, the Pretoria community really came to the party. The #TuksFMRecord hashtag was abuzz on Twitter and hundreds of folks SMSed Tuks FM to show their support for the world record attempt.

The Bang Bang Breakfast duo got up to some interesting things to pass the 75 hours. I don’t know who were all the famous people who showed up at Hatfield Square, but I did hear whispers about Ladies of the Night abandoning their poles to show their support for Alex and Cassy and all kinds of interesting things happening.

I made my way to Hatfield Square last night to check up on the duo. Luckily we stayed long enough to catch (and capture) the moment that Alex Caige and Cassy Clarke reached the 75 hour mark at 9 PM.

Well done to Tuks FM, Cassy Clarke and Alex Caige. You are all legendary. You have done Pretoria proud and I hope you get the official Guinness World Record. Kudos to everyone that was involved in organizing and running this event. Congratulations on a job well done (despite the hiccups on Friday morning).

Spread the word about this 75 hour World Record Attempt on Facebook and Twitter. Remember: Sharing is Caring.

I might be wrong – but i think that Jean Jordaan (@jeanjordaan) did a 92.6 hour broadcast. Alone. Also officiated by Guiness World Records. It was done on MFM 92.6.

This is was for a joint broadcast record, they’re separate records 😀
