Van Coke Kartel @ Skyroom Live (Video)

On the 10th of April 2012 (this week Tuesday) @lexamantis and I were fortunate to attend the Van Coke Kartel Skyroom Live gig on the rooftop of a 20 storey building in the Johannesburg CBD. It was a slightly cold, yet awesome experience. We battled for about an hour in traffic from Sandton to the Johannesburg CBD to find the venue, but it was totally worth the effort. It was also nice to bump into folks like @chrismaider @Sarinatjie @5krApn3l @KerrynKemp at the show.

Some of you reading this, might not know what Skyroom Live is, so here’s an explanation. It’s actually a very awesome concept. Skyroom Live is an opportunity for artists to reach fans beyond borders and across time zones in a way that exceeds the way they currently interact with them.

The folks at Skyroom Live have set up a stylish and intimate venue on top of a 20 storey skyscraper in the Johannesburg CBD and its from this unique platform that they would like to offer artists an opportunity to perform to an unlimited number of fans worldwide. This creates an exclusive event for artists, giving them the opportunity to be filmed and broadcast in HD, “LIVE” via Facebook and the Skyroom Live website to a worldwide audience. Pretty awesome huh?

This is a video on YouTube containing a bit of the Van Coke Kartel set that I attended on Tuesday:

Fans, take note, watching the live streams are free and if you missed it, don’t despair, you can watch an archived pay per view stream of the show on the Skyroom Live website – and it only costs $5 (R40) per show. So far, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Karen Zoid, Albert Frost, Tidal Waves and others have had the honor of performing for Skyroom Live, quite impressive if you ask me.

Fans of SA Music can expect shows from Arno Carstens, Newtown Knife Gang, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, aKING, Southern Gypsey Queen and others in the near future, read the Skyroom Live Website for more details. You can also join them on Facebook or follow them via @skyroomlive on Twitter. If you don’t get invited to join the event and you want to attend the event you can buy tickets for Skyroom Live shows via Computicket.

I want to take this time to thank Louise Crouse for the invite to my first Skyroom Live Experience. You are a legend. Watch this space for regular updates in the Music and Music Videos categories on Running Wolf’s Rant.
