What are the top Energy Efficient Home Features? It’s a fact that recent technological developments have enabled energy-saving and integrated energy efficiency into home building and construction. Design, options, building cost, and styles differ from one house.

However, some essential elements such as controlled ventilation and high-efficiency cooling and heating are always the same. Today I’m giving you the top 5 energy efficient home features that most of the houses have the helps in maintaining a balanced Electricity comparison.

    Energy Efficient Homes

So, What Are The Top 5 Energy Efficient Home Features?

    1. Controlled ventilation

Most energy-efficient houses are air-sealed and need to be ventilated in a controlled way. This prevents health problems and risks from air pollution indoors and promotes a more comfortable living atmosphere in the house.

Controlled ventilation is done via the heat recovery ventilators or the energy recovery ventilators, which save almost 60% of the energy from the air inside the house and transfer the power to the fresh air entering by exchanging heat with the air inside the device.

    2. Heating and cooling systems

Energy-efficient homes require small heating and cooling system in any weather. Others require just the sunlight energy, heat from radiation in the house, or any other appliance that gives off any waste heat energy to be functional.

Suppose there is a requirement for air conditioning equipment. In that case, it is also significantly small in energy-efficient houses and can sustain the household for all weather conditions except for the warmest conditions.

All these smaller pieces of equipment are usually less expensive when buying them and are also easy to operate. Therefore, the cost of purchasing more insulation for the house or some additional energy efficient products is recovered.

    3. Energy Efficient appliances

The energy efficient houses also have appliances with the same characteristic as the house itself. This is because devices with a higher efficiency always offer a sense of insurance against increased energy prices and emitting less air pollution.

The appliances range from lighting, heating, cooling, and other instruments that help keep the energy bills down by reducing energy wastage in the form of heat and reducing the cooling requirements of the house. Energy saving devices on the other end help reduce the Electricity comparison countrywide.

    4. Have been constructed using the optimum value engineering

The construction method primarily uses wood as the raw material by making it the most effective way, reducing the expensive wood use, and saving more space for insulation.

In this method, some plywood sheets are used for framing and insulating the house. Energy efficient houses have a higher R-value than ordinary houses.

The foundations and the slabs are well insulated to improve home energy use and achieve maximum comfort. In this way, most of the appliances are installed in the house’s basement and can also assist in heating the house.

    5. Insulated windows and doors

Windows and doors are the house’s entry points and can lead to drainage of the home’s energy use. Research shows that about 24% to 30% of the energy in a house is lost either via the doors or windows.

Over the years, windows, in particular, have upgraded from the standard single-pane windows to the storm windows, gas-filled windows, and even windows with extra panes that help in the home’s insulation. Double-glazed windows such as double glazing Bristol insulates against heat and cold up to four times more effectively than single-glazed windows.

    Final thoughts

There are many energy efficient features of a house that one cannot spot on their own. Mostly we may need a home inspector to get more information about the characteristics of these houses.

Knowing the features of an energy efficient house may help you choose the type of home you want while also considering the amount of money you are willing to spend on the same. Nonetheless, Electricity comparison index is reduced so is the energy charges.
