Why Should College Athletes Be Paid? Today we’ll answer this question in detail. Did you know that the college football games in the US have started again with the glamour that follows it and the money involved in it? These games have attained worldwide popularity; crowd appeal is massive and highly impressive.
The capacity of spectators goes as high as 100,000 in some cases and the games are shown on television. The attention to college sports is so high; the nongovernmental organization managing the sports is swimming in money. The revenue that comes to NCCA through broadcast rights is estimated at around the US $3 billion marks in 2014.
If such a large amount of money is coming in through the skills of the students, the question to be asked is: Are the students not worth a share of the money? Agreed, they are amateurs, but the fact that they go through risks that the professional’s pass-through makes it logical to give the students a share of the money that comes in. Besides students waste their time on this sport and they have to turn to the best assignment help websites to have time to do all the tasks set by teachers and get the best grades.
Why Should College Athletes Be Paid?
The majority of the students involved in college sports are black students from very poor backgrounds. Some of the students go through career-threatening injuries and they never make it to the pro ranks. This is a case that needs to be looked into with the urgency that it demands. But as we speak, the debate is still ongoing.
The revenue to NCCA is climbing with the turn of every year and so the clamor for college athletes to be paid is on the rise. In the words of Michael Bennett to ESPN; he thinks professional’s that the players should get paid in as much as money goes NCAA. He thought that since everybody gets paid, then the players that are directly involved deserved remuneration. Any attempt to ignore them is slavery according to Bennett.
The above quote from Bennett is loaded when we consider his reference to slavery. It is argued that the fact that the majority of the athletes are blacks is the reason why there is apathy to remunerating college athletes.
11percent of the respondents that are black are opposed to paying black athletes while 43% of the white respondents are of the view that college students deserve no enumeration. There is racial coloration to it. In another study, it was realized that negative racial views represent the singular factor in the opposition to paying student-athletes.
One of the authors of the study, Tatishe Nteta, (a professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst) thought that whites are not in favor of welfare for college athletes because the issue concerns mainly black students. The color bias is a strong factor why the needful has not to be done for college athletes in the opinion of Tatishe Nteta.
The issue of paying college athletes is in the law courts. Former students are coming up in support of the idea to receive the payments because they could turn their time and health into something more useful than millet to run for free, moreover, they turned to an assignment writing service in the UK where they received the best ready-made tasks and it somehow compensated for missing classes. It is a matter of time; the wall of partition will soon give way. When that will be, no one can tell.
