On Saturday I made my way to 4th edition of Rise & Shine Festival at Sandton Central Park in Johannesburg (just 3 blocks aways from the hustle and bustle of Sandton City Shopping Center and Sandton Gautrain station).
After munching some lunch at Sandton City my mate Nino and I met up with a few of our friends and settled in to enjoy the soothing sounds of Josie Field, followed by an awesome performance by Albert Frost. At 2 PM it was time for Shortstraw to rise and shine. They got the party started with songs like “Couch Patato” and “Bikini Weather” and had the crowd dancing before anyone could say “How Down”.
The rest of the line-up included acts like BCUC, Coax and Mr. Cat and the Jackal, the atmosphere was chilled and the beers were cold. Kudos to Lloyd and his team for pulling off a great Summer Edition of this festival. I snapped this photo of Shortstraw while there were performing and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 12th of December 2013. It’s hard to believe that the world nearly ended a year ago.
