I live Music. Sometimes watch Movies. Road Tripper. Photographer. Lover of life and living. Extreame OCD. Just call me Iron Man.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge Desmond and the Tutus fan, and have been for a few years now. When one of your favourite bands releases a new album, you are usually one of the first people to buy it or pre-order it so that you can at least have it when it is actually being released. As I logged onto Facebook this morning I saw a link that was shared by all the members of Desmond and the Tutus, A NEW SINGLE!   According to the band, part one of the “Enjoy yourself” album is being…

First off, Oppikoppi was one INSANE weekend, as always! This was only my second Oppi, but this one was certainly an improvement on my first one. As always, everyone has a few highlights that plays off in your head till a few weeks after Oppi, even if everything was one big highlight. My highlights, Wolfmother and Editors, WOW! Springbok Nude Girls performing with Francois van Coke, aKing performing with Francois van Coke, Shortstraw, Wrestlerish performing for the last time ever and giving me the last ever CD at a live show, Van Coke Kartel, Dan Patlansky and Albert Frost performing as…

So I’ve been unemployed for almost 5 days and I decided to start a new feature on Rwrant called “Haaave you heard”, that will consist of 2 posts a week, one on a Monday; featuring an unknown band or a band that hasn’t been really active over the last few years, but mostly for up-and-coming bands in our South African industry, of which I am a very big fan of. The post on a Friday will consist of new albums out there or albums that will still be released. (Thanks to Bass de Beer for the naming, I hit a…

They have a venue that was voted the best in South Africa at the MK Awards 2014, we know that Arcade Empire can throw a party to remember, and with them turning 3 rocking years old and Arcade Empire in Potch opening in the same week, it was bound to be a good one. With a line-up that could have been a day at Oppikoppi, we rocked out to the sweet tunes of The Olympic, Yo Grapes, The December Streets, Desmond and the Tutus and the always exciting Van Coke Kartel. Friday night was my first time seeing the Solo-Electo…

I’ve been excited for this day since I started counting down the days on 187 days. The day has finally arrived, the day I’ve been waiting to come for about 7 years, the day I would see Biffy Clyro live on a stage right before my eyes! I already started packing everything I would need on the Wednesday morning, even though I was only leaving on Friday, and only sleeping there on the Saturday night. It made the dream real, okay? Friday morning I was already up at 3 AM packing the things into my car and then waited till…

First off, apologies for the very late post, It’s been a hectic week. Last week Saturday I finally popped my interview cherry when I interviewed the awesome, Shout Hey! At Arcade Empire after their last show on their ‘Can you hear me’ EP launch tour. I’d like to start off by saying that I’m not usually into many trio bands, mostly because I think that 5-man bands are better live as everyone has their own role in the band and doesn’t share roles as often as trio bands do, but then you look at a band like Blink 182 or…

I recently had the privilege of seeing 2 Fokofpolisiekar shows in 3 weeks. The opening show at Firkin in Centurion on the 22nd of November and the show at the Parkview Barnyard Theatre in Pretoria on Sunday night. I always make sure I catch one of the theatre shows and one of the normal shows of all the Fokofpolisiekar tours, just to get a feel of the ‘acoustic’ shows. I say ‘acoustic’ because there isn’t actually a Fokofpolisiekar show that doesn’t make you want to head bang and jump around like a crazy person. I think they make only half…

I’m going to start off by saying that Bloed, Sweet & Trane is by far my favourite Van Coke Kartel album to date. I have this stupid habit off wanting too much out of an album. I like when it makes me feel something on the inside, a feeling of satisfaction or victory in a way, it must tell a story I can relate to and it must make me want to come back for more. I’ve had Bloed, Sweet & Trane in the second slot of the CD-Shuttle in my car since I bought it on Saturday playing it on…

On Saturday night it was the final show for this leg of the Van Coke Kartel tour to launch the new album (Bloed, Sweet & Trane) at Arcade Empire in Pretoria. The opening acts included the likes of Feed the Wolf and Coax who kept everyone entertained before Van Coke Kartel took the stage with a very energetic and well rounded show. They played songs off the new album and some of the older songs to keep the ones that haven’t mastered the new lyrics yet entertained, even though I doubt they would have been disappointed with the show if…

I recently went to see the new Metallica – Through the never movie in 3D at Menlyn. I couldn’t imagine why a band such as Metallica would feel the need to bring out a movie, however, I’m really, really glad that they did decide to bring out the movie. I did feel a bit disconnected in the sense that I was sitting in a cinema watching a live Metallica show on a screen, with fans that didn’t really seem to be enjoying the show all that much. I was singing along to every single song that played while constanly saying…
