Sometimes you may need to watch a movie or a sporting event that due to license or legal restrictions, is not available in your country of residence. And that’s where VPN services come in.
VPN stands for “Virtual Private Network”. Not only do these services allow you to access restricted sites, but also add an extra layer of security to your online forays. In this article, we will highlight 6 of the best services for home and office Internet security needs, in no particular order of course.
1. NordVPN
Nord VPN is arguably the best virtual network software for privacy freaks. The service possesses a strong AES-256 encryption protocol and a zero logs policy to make your browsing as safe and confidential as possible. Other features include DNS leak protection, several kill switches, and proxy protection for Chrome and Firefox.
NordVPN gives you more than 60 countries to choose as your base and some 5,000 servers to choose from. The number of simultaneous connections on NordVPN are, however, restricted to 6 which could be a problem if you have a large number of users.
Nonetheless, it is still a relatively affordable service, going for about $72 for the annual plan, and $42 for the 24-month plan.
2. ExpressVPN
ExpressVPN effortlessly combines speed, efficiency, and privacy to give an amazing user experience. For one, it offers access to more than 2, 000 servers and 150 locations around the world as well as some of the best security features in the market.
The DNS content-unblocking feature, in particular, is very popular among Netflix users and lovers of torrents sites. Confidentiality is assured with ExpressVPN industrial-strength encryption, comprehensive no-logging policy and most importantly, DNS leak protection. The service costs about $12.95 on the monthly plan, and $9.99 on the 6-month plan.
3. PureVPN
If you’re looking for a virtual network software to use across multiple gadgets with different operating systems, look no further than PureVPN. The software is compatible with more than 50 operating systems, offers 140+ countries and can be simultaneously connected to 5 devices.
Even better, PureVPN offers unlimited P2P torrenting bandwidth, 256-bit encryption, and DNS leak protection. Payment plans include $72 for a 24-month plan and $54 for the bi-annual plan.
4. Buffered VPN
Buffered VPN is a versatile software that is compatible with a wide range of operating systems and that connects you to public Wi-Fi even when you don’t have a password.
The Hungarian service is available in 37 countries and has a considerable amount of servers that let you connect to sites such as Netflix US and the UK BBC iPlayer.
Buffered is also relatively reliable and fast and allows you to download any apps and movies you fancy. The annual plan costs $92.99 while a one-off monthly plan will set you back $12.49.
5. Private Internet Access (PIA)
PIA is a budget service that is in essence, more valuable than it looks. For one, it’s quite cheap, costing about $40 annually and $7 per month. Secondly, it offers access to 3,100+ servers in 33 countries and is compatible with a wide range of platforms, from desktops to smartphones, tablets, and routers.
Private Internet Access also promises no activity logging and built-in ad blockers to keep your browsing experiences private, safe and enjoyable. Additionally, PIA gives you the option to easily setup homepage on Mac, Windows, Linux or iOS screens.
6. Windscribe VPN Solutions for Home
With 340+ servers in 50+ countries, Windscribe is an excellent option for all your Internet security needs across Linux, Mac, Windows, and iOS systems and it’s also compatible with all browsers.
What more, Windscribe is one of the cheapest services on the list, at only $4.50 per month for the premium package. If, however, you just need some basic web privacy features, you can subscribe to the free plan, which allows you to access up to 10GB worth of content per month. You don’t get such good VPNs free of charge anymore so check it out if you can.
As governments and ISP’s become increasingly nosy and intrusive, we all have no option but to take measures to protect our personal details and online activities.
With VPN services, this is not only possible but also easy and very effective. So, it’s imperative to learn how to setup free VPN as well as the premium ones mentioned above.

I can confirm that NordVPN is very good. I tested this VPN myself, and the results were excellent: the speed was good, no leaks were found during the test, and it bypasses geo-restrictions (tried with Netflix US). Although it is a bit pricey, NordVPN often offers great deals for a longer term.
ExpressVPN is my top pick. From my experience, it’s one of the few services that’s both consistent and private.
Wow, this is very interesting reading . I found a lot of thing which I need. Great job on this content. I like it.
