Disney+ has announced that the new original drama series The Testaments – a continuation from the creative team behind The Handmaid’s Tale — will premiere on 8 April 2026.
The series launches with three episodes on release day on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally, with new episodes rolling out weekly thereafter.

Story and Setting
The Testaments is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name and expands the world established in The Handmaid’s Tale. The series is a coming-of-age drama set in Gilead.
The story follows two teenagers: Agnes, who is raised to be obedient and devout within the regime, and Daisy, a newcomer who arrives from outside Gilead’s borders. Their lives intersect at Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives, where strict discipline and religious justification shape every aspect of daily life. Their growing connection becomes the trigger for major changes that affect their past, present, and future.
The Testaments Cast
The cast includes Ann Dowd, Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien.
Creative Team and Production
The series was created for television by showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller. Executive producers include Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Mike Barker. Barker also directs the first three episodes. The production is handled by MGM Television.
