Full Swing Band are one of the acts who will be performing at this weekend’s Lets Swing It Family Picnic at Carfax in Newtown, Johannesburg. The event will be taking place on the 9th of April (this week Saturday) and promises to be one of the coolest events on the Johannesburg social calendar.

I recently had a little chat to Greg Georgiades from the Full Swing Band about Lets Swing It and a few other things. This is what he had to say.

What can music fans expect from your set at Let’s Swing It?

Fans can expect to be irresistibly stimulated to move their bodies to infectious swinging rhythms and beats, funky walking double bass, mischievous jazzy ukulele and captivating singing with outrageous vocal scatting. A party!

What are you currently working on?

We are currently working on a complete FULL SWING album of unique original and fresh material that we know will take the Electro Swing scene to new fun places…

What are your thoughts about the current state of the Swing genre in SA?

The current state of the swing genre in SA is looking good in general and fast gaining a big following of people who want a great time out dressing up, dancing and having great fun vibes with this expressively happy genre. We feel that starting the Full Swing Band with our own variations and flavours has indeed added to what is on offer and we continue to aim for the further development of more possibilities for this fun movement genre.

How do you describe your musical style to fans and friends?

    NetfloristOfferforge

Our style is rooted in the spirit of the swing era music with expansive evolved modern rhythmic expressions and beats that are crafted to capture the attention of the party fun audience and give them the means to satisfy that urge to dance with carefree abandon and have max fun!

What is your favorite quote about music?

“Music is a great universal language that all understand but few can speak. We have some great stories for you!”.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Greg and the Full Swing Band for doing this interview with me and I’d like to wish them all of the best with their set at Lets Swing It this weekend.

Tickets for this weekend’s Lets Swing It Family Picnic will cost R200 at the door, but general pre-sold tickets cost R160 (once the Earlybird tickets have sold out) on QUICKET.  If you want to swing it, get yours NOW!
