Thailand is carving a reputation as the perfect digital nomad destination. Phuket and other locations within this Asian country have been singled out for having a multitude of coworking spaces with a reliable internet connection, as well as offering the cheapest cost of living in the world.

Aside from the typical Phuket backpacker on a vacation getaway, digital nomads converge in the area as well as the surrounding islands on a quest for a quiet nook for leisure and work. It is easy to spot these intrepid individuals whose goal is to achieve that perfect balance outside of a typical 8 to 5 work set-up. Below are the best places for digital nomads to set up their temporary workstation while enjoying the sun, sand, and waters of Thailand.

    Koh Yao Noi

One of the quiet beaches in Thailand can be found in a gem of an island located in Phang Nga Bay, where limestone cliffs jut out of the waters and quiet fishing villages cluster near the coastline.

    Koh Yao Noi

A holiday resort Koh Yao Noi may seem fit for a relaxing vacation but for digital nomads looking for a quiet undisturbed space to write or complete a project, this island could be that perfect choice. Coastal Escapes offers one of the best Koh Yao Noi accommodation options.

Aside from the resort’s comfortable amenities such as a private pool and private beach access, they also offer high-speed internet.

    Koh Yao Yai

Koh Yao Yai is for the digital nomad looking for a way to merge work and wellness in one trip. For those looking for the best accommodation option on the island, Santhiya Resort & Spas offers the best of both worlds.

The resort has a massive free-form swimming pool that blends with nature, a fitness center, and a spa with expansive services. They also offer free wifi, a must for those on a work-vacation mode.

    Koh Bon

For those who like to go scuba diving, Koh Bon has several sites that attract seasoned divers from all over the world, including its famous underwater stone formations. Part of the Similan Islands National Park, its waters also attract a multitude of marine life, from soft corals, manta rays to moray eels.

While the nearest accommodation is just less than 20 minutes away in Rawai, Koh Bon offers the perfect day trip destination for digital nomads on a break. In Rawai, Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa could be the perfect workstation while exploring Koh Bon since they offer a complimentary boat ride to the island.

    Koh Maiton

Another destination worthy of exploration is Koh Maiton, which is around 30 minutes away from Phuket via ferry. As a privately-owned island, visitors have to make arrangements with a tour group before visiting Koh Maiton.

But for those who plan on visiting the island on a day tour, the pristine white sand and crystal clear waters teeming with marine life provides a great destressing experience. There is also the Maiton Private Island resort to accommodate guests for an overnight stay on the island. Another option is to find the best place to stay in Phuket and make arrangements for a day trip to the island.

    Koh Racha

The Koh Racha is a pair of islands off the southern coastline of Phuket. Known as Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi, these two islands can be visited for a day of snorkeling and scuba diving.

For digital nomads wanting to combine work and play, arranging a visit to the Koh Racha islands provides the perfect balance. For those planning to stay longer in the island, try the Ko Racha Rai Resort, one of the few places that provide access to wifi for guests.

    Coral Island

Also known as Koh Hae, Coral island offers a host of activities for digital nomads. From water sports to hiking and just plain lounging on the beach, there are more ways to enjoy the island while working on a project from a comfy resort villa. Coral Island Resort provides the necessary amenities for those on a work-leisure trip.

    Coral Island

The above list serves as a quick digital nomad guide for those searching for a pristine alternative to the urban centers of Thailand.

Aside from providing that much-needed respite from the buzz of city life, these islands also offer the cheapest cost of living in the world. Accessibility should not be a problem since the islands are accessible via ferry. Plus, the quality of accommodations is comparable to the best places to stay in Phuket.
