Durban Rockers Gangs Of Ballet will be jamming at the 3rd edition of Park Acoustics for 2016 this coming Sunday. The event will feature some of the best acts that the SA Music scene has to offer.
Coelacanth (an amazing trio from Jozi), Guy Buttery (a guitar maestro from Durban), Bam Bam Brown & the Professor (a new act from Cape Town) and Thieve (who are launching their new album) will be entertaining the crowd to the max before Gangs of Ballet will make their way onto the stage. It’s going to be amazing.
Gangs of Ballet are definitely one of the best live acts in SA. They have played at almost every music festival in South Africa and they’ve entertained music fans to the max.
In 2014 they won the MTV MAMA for “Best Alternative” and the SAMA for “Best Producer” for their debut album “Yes/No/Grey”. There is no doubt in my mind that Gangs of Ballet are one of the acts that make the SA Music scene great.
I recently had a chat to Brad from Gangs of Ballet about Park Acoustics and a few other things. This is what he had to say:
This will be the first time that Gangs Of Ballet play at Park Acoustics, what are your expectations?
Well, the expectations are HIGH to say the least! I think every single person we’ve chatted to has raved about the show’s vibe and venue.
What are your thoughts about the state of SA Music at the moment?
I think SA music is on the rise watching and listening to the urban, hip hop and electronic scenes. The standard is high. However it is becoming increasingly hard to be in a Rock band in SA.
What is your favourite quote about music?
‘If the music is too loud, you’re too old.’
What are Gangs Of Ballet currently working on?
Busy getting mixes back for our second part of our album “Form And Function”. 6 more tunes coming at ‘ya.
What can music fans expect from Gangs Of Ballet at Park Acoustics?
It’s our first time so we’re our to impress. Come ready to sing and shake what ‘ya mama gave ‘ya.
I’d like to thank Brad and Gangs of Ballet for the interview and I’m wishing them all of the best with their set at Park Acoustics on Sunday. I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be an awesome one.
