Danalog is one of the DJ’s on the line-up for GRIETfest 2016. This festival is happening on the 27th of August. Together with Olmeca Tequila and Red Bull Studio this electronic music festival is back for it’s 6th consecutive year as South Africa’s biggest one day urban underground dance music festival.
Danalog also features Dimension from the UK, Lektrique from Belgium and Proxy from Russia. I had a quick chat to him about Grietfest 2016 and a few other things… This is what he had to say:
Where does the name Danalog originate from?
It’s a name I came up with many years ago whilst brainstorming a cool alias to use. I decided to combine the word ‘analogue’ with my first name ‘Daniel’ and came up with Danalog. I thought it had a fun ring to it. It has however backfired on me a few times with very odd pronunciations and friends coming up with rather embarrassing nicknames.
When you think of GRIETfest, what comes to mind?
Well this will be my very first GRIETfest and I have only seen and heard good things, so I’m really looking forward to it. Ask me this again when it’s over 😉
If G.R.I.E.T. would be an abbreviation for something, what would it stand for?
Get. Ready. Its. Emezing. Trust me ………?
What is the funniest thing that you’ve experienced during a DJ set?
I once had a girl request Shakira during a set at one of Cape Towns more known underground clubs. Now I don’t dislike Shakira but I certainly do not have any of her music in my collection. I first thought she was taking the piss and gave her a very polite no with a smile. It didn’t take long for me to realise that she was in fact dead serious and a friendly decline soon turned into quite a heated argument which ended in the bouncer having to come and pull her out of the DJ booth. It was funny… in a sad kinda way.
What can festival goers expect from your set at this year’s Grietfest?
Loads of booty shaking, high energy and good vibes. I’m excited. And you should be too 🙂
I’d like to thank Danalog for taking time to do this interview and I wish him all of the best with his set at GRIETfest 2016.
