    Review: Epson CO-W01 Multimedia Projector

A while back I was privileged to demo the Epson CO-W01 Multimedia projector, and boy was I impressed. This versatile projector impressed me thoroughly.

More info about the Epson CO-W01 Multimedia Projector

This projector, released around 2022-2023, is built for easy setup and bright visuals, even in lit rooms. With a WXGA resolution (1280×800) and 3,000 lumens, it delivers crisp, colorful images thanks to Epson’s 3LCD tech.

    Espon CO-W01

It’s super portable – fits in a backpack—and can project a widescreen image up to 300 inches (or even 378 inches), dwarfing a 75-inch TV. It’s got an HDMI port for streaming devices and a long-lasting lamp (up to 12,000 hours in eco mode).

My Experience of the Epson CO-W01

I swapped my bedroom TV for the CO-W01 and hooked up my Google Chromecast with Google TV. Setup was mostly a breeze, though I fumbled at first with the focus – turns out, you twist the lens manually, no remote needed. A little twist (of fate) and bam!

The image was sharp, though a bit skew since the projector wasn’t dead-center to the wall. After tweaking the keystone and zoom sliders, I nailed the setup, and wow – the screen size blew me away. My bedroom felt like a mini theater!

The colors were vibrant, even with some ambient light, and the picture stayed clear for Netflix and shows, though it’s not 4K-level detail.

The built-in 5W speaker was okay for solo viewing – clear for dialogue but a bit weak for action scenes. I paired a Bluetooth speaker via the Chromecast for that cinematic boom, though I wish the projector had direct Bluetooth audio support.

    Conclusion

For its price range, the Epson CO-W01’s brightness and portability are tough to beat. It’s not a fancy 4K projector, but it’s perfect for casual movie nights, work presentations, or even gaming in darker rooms.

The long lamp life and optional wireless adapter (for streaming apps) are nice bonuses. If you want a versatile, budget-friendly projector without a steep learning curve, this is a winner. Just don’t expect a built-in smart OS or ultra-HD resolution.
