A while ago had the privilege to try out the TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV and I wasn’t disappointed. I could totally see why TCL has been named one of the top TV brands in recent times.
Here are my 2 cents on the TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV
Unboxing and mounting the feet
Unboxing the unit was pretty easy. It’s a pretty lightweight TV, so I didn’t break by back when I moved it arround to assemble the feet. Assembling the TV’s feet was pretty easy as well. Just make sure that you have a screwdriver handy.
Setup and App Installation
Setting up the TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV was pretty easy as well. You need to make sure that you have Google Home installed though.
Logging into my Google account and syncing the remote was fairly easy. The setup process is very similar to the setup process on the Google Chromecast 4th Generation, so if you’re familiar with that you should cruise through this. If you’re not, you should be okay as well – the process is very straight forward. The TV literally tells you what to do on the screen.
Installing my streaming apps was also very straight-forward. I installed the Netflix, Disney+, Showmax and Plex apps without any issues.
Picture Quality and Sound Quality
The TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV’s picture quality is crisp and clear. It supports a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at 60 Hz. It’s also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) and that helps a lot.
It’s sound quality is also superb. It has much clearer sound than my Hisense Smart TV. It might be because this TV has down firing speakers and supports Dolby AC4 and Dolby TrueHD and that it has Dolby Atmos, Virtualization & Upmix processing.
Things I liked about the TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV
Besides it superb picture quality and sound quality, the Google TV interface and app response time was decent on the unit. It didn’t take me too long to do what I wanted to do. The fact that this TV comes with a built-in Chromecast feature, is also a bonus. It works well with most of the streaming apps that are out there.
Things I didn’t like about the TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV
Playing around with the picture and sound settings was a bit of a mission. I had to go into the Google TV settings to play around with that till you get it right and this pauses video playback on some of the streaming apps. This annoyed me a little bit, but this is obviously you don’t fine tune this every day.
Wrapping Up
Considering that fact that the TCL 43P635 4K Android Google TV retails for between R4999 and R5999 in South Africa, this is a good value for money TV. It’s a good out-of-the-box Smart TV for someone who hasn’t owned one before. Get yours via Takealot, Pick n Pay or other retailers.
