    Here are 8 Movies You Can Stream on Showmax in April 2025

    The Wild Robot – Watch on M-Net (Channel 101 on DStv) at 15:50 on Saturday, 12 April – Stream on Showmax from Sunday, 13 April

    Based on Peter Brown’s bestselling novel, The Wild Robot follows Roz, a robot shipwrecked on an uninhabited island who must learn to survive in the wild.

    Over time, Roz builds relationships with the island’s animals and becomes the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

    Named Rotten Tomatoes’ Best Animated Movie of 2024, The Wild Robot was nominated for three Oscars, including Best Animated Feature Film, and won at the Annie and Critics Choice Awards.

    The film boasts an all-star voice cast led by Kenyan Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, alongside Pedro Pascal, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill, Catherine O’Hara, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, and Matt Berry.

    2. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga – Stream on Showmax from Thursday, 24 April

    Ranked fourth on Rotten Tomatoes’ Best Movies of 2024, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga takes us back to George Miller’s iconic dystopian world, first introduced in Mad Max and later revolutionized in Mad Max: Fury Road, which won six Oscars in 2015.

    Set years before Fury Road, the film follows a young Furiosa, kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and thrust into a brutal world ruled by warlords.

    As she fights for survival, she becomes entangled in the battle for dominance between Dementus and Immortan Joe.

    Anya Taylor-Joy takes over the role originally played by Charlize Theron, starring alongside Chris Hemsworth as the ruthless Dementus. The film received nominations at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards and Saturn Awards, boasting a 90% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

    3. Transformers One –Watch on M-Net (Channel 101 on DStv) at 15:50 on Saturday, 19 April – Stream on Showmax from Sunday, 20 April

    A brand-new chapter in the Transformers saga, Transformers One explores the untold origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron—before they became sworn enemies.

    The film features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, and Jon Hamm.

    Directed by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4), it earned an 89% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a Best Animated Film nomination at the 2025 Saturn Awards.

    4. Venom: The Last Dance –Stream on Showmax from Monday, 31 March – Watch on M-Net (Channel 101 on DStv) at 20:05 on Sunday, 6 April

    The final chapter in the Venom trilogy, The Last Dance was the 11th highest-grossing movie of 2024 globally.

    Hunted by enemies from both their worlds, Eddie Brock and Venom face an ultimate showdown that will force them to make their most difficult decision yet.

     

    Starring Tom Hardy alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Andy Serkis, Reid Scott, Rhys Ifans, and Stephen Graham, the film was nominated for Best Science Fiction Film at the 2025 Saturn Awards. IndieWire even hailed it as “the greatest love story ever told about a man and his symbiotic alien goo.”

    5. The Bikeriders –Watch on M-Net (Channel 101 on DStv) at 21:00 on Friday, 4 April – Stream on Showmax from Thursday, 1 May

    Inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1967 photo book, The Bikeriders follows headstrong Kathy as she falls for Benny, a member of the Vandals motorcycle club. But as the group descends into lawlessness, Benny must choose between his love for Kathy and loyalty to the club.

    Starring Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus, this crime drama was a Top 2 pick on Indiewire’s Critics’ Poll and holds an 80% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

    6. The Garfield Movie – Stream on Showmax now – Watch on M-Net (Channel 101 on DStv) at 20:05 on Sunday, 20 April

    The world’s most famous lasagna-loving cat is back! In The Garfield Movie, Garfield’s comfortable indoor life is turned upside down when he reunites with his long-lost father, Vic, and is thrown into a wild adventure.

    Featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, and even Snoop Dogg as a cat, the film was a Kids’ Choice Award nominee for Favourite Animated Movie and a Top 30 global box office hit of 2024.

    7. Boy Kills World – Stream on Showmax from Thursday, 3 April

    Set in a twisted, dystopian world, Boy Kills World follows Boy, a deaf orphan trained to be an unstoppable killing machine, as he embarks on a bloody path of revenge against a ruthless ruling family.

    Produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man) and filmed in Cape Town, the film stars Bill Skarsgård, Andrew Koji, Famke Janssen, Michelle Dockery, and South African star Sharlto Copley. Critics have called it “a manic fever dream of over-the-top violence and humor.”

    8. Smile 2 – Streaming on Showmax from 18 April 2025

    Naomi Scott (Aladdin) takes the lead as Skye Riley, a global pop superstar on the brink of a major world tour—until her life is thrown into chaos by a series of terrifying, unexplained events. As the horrors intensify and the pressure of fame mounts, Skye must confront the dark secrets of her past before everything unravels.

    Smile 2 is written and directed by Parker Finn, returning after the breakout success of the original Smile. The sequel features the return of Kyle Gallner as Joel, alongside Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), and two-time Emmy nominee Drew Barrymore (50 First Dates).

    The film was nominated for Best Horror Film, Best Actress (Scott), Best Makeup, and Best Music (Cristobal Tapia de Veer, The White Lotus) at the 2025 Saturn Awards, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.

    A #1 box office smash, Smile 2 boasts an 86% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with praise for Scott’s “nerve-jangling star turn” in what critics call “a pop stardom nightmare that’ll leave a rictus grin on horror fans’ faces.”
