July 2024 is done and dusted and this month has seen a whole bunch of interesting music releases. If you are a human, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to list all of them (unless you have a tight of mighty writers), so I’ve decided to choose 3 Howlin’ Good Songs that were released in this month and feature them instead.
Happy reading (and listening folks)…
Here are 3 Tracks You May Have Missed in July 2024
1. Doomfairy – “Muse”
This track was playing on Spotify on repeat (and in my head) on the day it was released (on the 23rd of July 2024). I can’t get enough of this hard-step infused track which features Hanu De Jong (from The Narrow & Not My Dog fame) and Daisy Arson (AKA Kayleigh Mocke) on vocals.
The single is the 5th release in 3 months by Doomfairy and establishes a signature sound for this new project. Doomfairy have already collaborated with Emile de Jong (The Narrow), Reegan Du Boisson (Facing the Gallows) and Worsie van Wyk (Boargasm).
Doomfairy is a hard EDM project infusing Dubstep, Cyberpunk, Drum’n Bass, Pop and Tearout to produce a melodic hardhitting sound. They are set to tour South Africa in November 2024.

2. Eminem – “Somebody Save Me” (featuring Jelly Roll)
This track is the third single off Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). It’s Eminem’s twelfth studio album and it was released on 12 July 2024, under Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records.
The album features guest artists such as White Gold, Sly Pyper, Bizarre, JID, Dem Jointz, Ez Mil, Skylar Grey, Big Sean, BabyTron, and Jelly Roll. The production team includes Eminem himself, along with Dem Jointz, Fredwreck, Cubeatz, Cole Bennett, DJ Premier, and frequent collaborators Dr. Dre and Luis Resto, among others.
“Somebody Save Me” is a country hip hop song by Eminem, featuring samples from Jelly Roll’s 2020 single “Save Me.” Produced by Emile Haynie, Benny Blanco, Luis Resto, and David Ray, the song explores Eminem’s relationship with his family during his past drug addiction.
The lyrics imagine an alternate reality where Eminem died before his daughter Hailie’s graduation, with each verse dedicated to one of his children—Alaina, Hailie, and Stevie. He expresses regret for his addiction’s impact on the family, admitting he doesn’t feel deserving of the “father” title. The song includes snippets of Jelly Roll’s “Save Me,” repeating the line “somebody save me, me from myself.”

3. Jake Bugg – “All Kinds Of People”
Since discovering Jake Bugg in the early to mid 2010s, I’ve fallen in love with his music. “All Kinds Of People” was released on 5 July 2024. It’s the second single off his new album, A Modern Day of Distraction (which is scheduled to be released in September 2024).
Jake Bugg’s new album emerged from his frustration with societal inequality and aims to highlight the injustices he has witnessed affecting his family and friends over the years.
