Great News Dear Reader, Running Wolf’s Rant has levelled up! “How?” you may be asking – Well, in short, there a few new features (that were not here before) and there’s a ton more to explore (than there was about 2 weeks ago).
Before we get into everything, I just want to thank everyone for their ongoing support over the last 17+ years. You guys and girls are GREAT 🙂
So, what the hell happened?
This blog has been around since 2008 and has experienced many pivots over the years, but in the year of our Lord 2022 I did something very bold – I ventured into the niche blogging scene – I moved a lot of content to 2 different sites (SA Music Zone and Interesting Facts).
“Why?” you may be asking – Well, to be honest, my aim was to build up audiences for the 2 of my main topics: SA Music and Facts. I thought that we a good idea at the time.
Google was friendly to niche sites back then and I was ambitious – Sily me actually wanted to build up 3 different brands at the same time! Can you believe that?
For a while this was a lot of fun, but it turns out that there was a downside to this. I screwed myself. Big Time.
Building up 3 different brands is a lot of work – especially in the age that we’re living in now. Times have changed.
Because my focus was scattered between 3 brands, Running Wolf’s Rant lost a lot of web traffic. At times the other 2 sites florished, but it was short-lived.
The Times are a changin’ peeps. It’s a fact that Google has stopped liking niche sites, AI has not been kind to bloggers and small businesses and attention spans are a lot lower than they were in the 2010s.
So, what did I decide to do?
I decided to go back to my roots. No more scatter brain. No more scattered content. Everything in ONE place, on Running Wolf’s Rant.
So, What’s New on Running Wolf’s Rant?
1. All the music-related articles that were on SA Music Zone are back and all the facts posts that were on Interesting Facts are back on Running Wolf’s Rant.
2. There are four different content hubs:
- The Screen Hub (for all things that you view or play on at least one of your screens)
- The Music Hub (for all things music-related)
- The Knowledge Hub (for the facts posts and everything else that’s intented to inform you).
- Die Afrikaanse Hoekie (waar jy al die Afrikaanse artikels op die blog kan vind).
3. The SA Gig Guide (that was originally on SA Music Zone) is here now.
4. There’s also a dedicated page for Upcoming Events (featuring upcoming festivals, gigs, concerts and other events that you might want to check out).
5. I’ve introduced two roulette games to view random posts:
- Facts Roulette (which allows you to view a random facts post)
- Music Video Roulette (which allows you to watch a random music video)
