    More info about Robin Williams

Robin Williams needs no introduction. He was famous for being a stand-up comedian and actor. He appeared in Good Morning Vietnam, Patch Adams and various other movies over the years.

Even though he passed away a few years ago, he is still one of my favorite stand-up comedians. Williams was born in 1951 in Chicago, Illinois.

He rose to fame with his role as the alien Mork in the TV series Mork and Mindy and later did superb stand-up comedy work. I still remember listening to his albums on repeat in the late 1990’s and no matter how many times I had heard it, it still remains funny to me every time I listen to it.

Williams claimed that, when he was a child, he was quite overweight, shy, and nobody would play with him. As a result, he would entertain himself by talking in different voices. His first impression ever was of his grandmother, and he performed it to his mother.

Robin Williams also ushered in an area of celebrity voice acting. The 1992 success of Aladdin, in which he voiced the Genie, led to more celebrities voicing animated characters.

Good Morning, Vietnam was the film that put Robin Williams on the map as a film actor. It almost didn’t happen though. The film was passed around for many years before it finally landed in Williams’ lap.

After reading the script, he realized the movie would be the perfect platform for him to show the world what he was capable in terms of range. It worked. he film bagged him his first Oscar nomination.

This is the clip featuring his appearance on Whose Line Is It Anyway:
