Biffy Clyro played at RAMFest 2014 Johannesburg on Friday night. Their set kicked off at 11 PM (an hour after Foals finished their Indie-driven set).
This Scottish rock band absolutely blew the +/- 10,000 strong crowd away with their in-your-face style of rock ‘n roll and lyric-driven rock anthems. They had the crowd singing along in no time and did not leave a single fan disappointed, playing non-stop for almost 2 hours.
They played every single song that the their fans wanted to hear and even inspired my good friend @BaasDeBeer to lift a ban that he had installed against me requesting Biffy Clyro songs in Aandklas Hatfield – that’s how powerful their live set was.
The lighting and the sound was perfect and the band’s intense performance dismissed any presumptions that some metal fans had about them “not being hardcore enough for RAMFest”.
Their crowd interaction was awesome, one simply could not get irritated with Simon Neil saying “We’re Biffy Fucking Clyro, we’re from fucking Scotland” too many times.
Biffy Clyro was definitely one of the highlights of the festival for me
I’m very grateful for the chance to photograph them. Here are some of the photos that I took of them on Friday night at RAMFest 2014 Johannesburg. There are more photos on the Henno Kruger Photography page on Facebook.
