On the weekend of the 9th to the 11th of August 2012 I saw Eagles of Death Metal at Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing. They played at 6 PM on the Saturday night (before Enter Shikari, the KONGOS, Seether and Bullet For My Valentine performed).
When Eagles of Death Metal made their way onto the James Phillips stage at Oppikoppi I didn’t really know what to expect. One song into their set and I realized that these okes from the USA mean business. They rocked out like you would not believe. The frontman (Jesse Hughes) suprised with me with his Hillbilly accent. He interacted very well with the Oppikoppi crowd.
I consider the set by Eagles of Death Metal at Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing as one of my musical highlights of this year. Jesse Hughes really knows how to rock out – and the dude really has a mean mustache (which does the band’s whole image justice if you ask me). Unfortunately I didn’t see their full set, but I’m thinking they might be back in the near future for more shows.
Check out these photos below that I snapped of Eagles of Death Metal
