DStv is absolutely packed this August with fresh content, must-see premieres, and returning favourites that cover every genre and interest you could throw a remote at.

So, what’s coming to DSTv in August 2025?

Over on National Geographic Wild, Critter Fixers returns on 4 August with more heartwarming, wild, and occasionally weird veterinary cases – including everything from a kitten that can’t see to a goose with a tracheal obstruction.

Meanwhile, Gush’lyf on Mzansi Magic will introduce the high-octane world of spinning and the people who live for the thrill on the 7th of August 2025.

On kykNET, Boer Soek ‘n Vrou S17 is back on the 7th of August with new hopeful romantics and a new host, while Chimp Crazy on M-Net will dives into the surreal world of chimpanzee ownership, earning both critical acclaim and Emmy nominations (also on August the 7th by the way).

Kate Winslet leads the biopic Lee (which is airing on M-Net on the 10th of August). It tells the powerful story of war photographer Lee Miller.

On BBC Lifestyle, Antiques Roadshow returns for its 47th season on the 10th of August, proving that some treasures – and TV shows – just get better with age.

From the intense halls of The Pitt (M-Net) to Retta’s comedic renovation tour in Ugliest House in America (HGTV), there’s drama and delight in equal measure on August the 11th.

E! Entertainment’s Plastic Surgery Rewind takes celebs down memory lane – and under the scalpel – to question their beauty choices from the 17th of August.

BET’s Black Gold serves up family betrayal and illegal mining drama with a strong local cast from the 18th of August, while the culinary gloves come off in Chef Grudge Match (Food Network), where chefs settle beef the old-fashioned way – with a knife fight in the kitchen (from the 19th of August).

Over on Discovery Channel, Deadliest Catch reaches dangerous new frontiers in the hunt for king crab (also from the 19th of August), and M-Net’s Mr Loverman, based on Bernardine Evaristo’s Booker Prize winner, tells a moving tale of love, identity, and secrets with BAFTA-winning performances (from the 20th of August).

David Duchovny lifts the lid on government secrets in Secrets Declassified (from the 22nd of August on HISTORY) while Destination X adds a fresh spin on competition shows, blending travel and deduction in the ultimate game of “Where the hell are we?” (from the 23rd of August on M-Net).

Afrikaans mystery fans can dive into Spoorloos: Losprys (from the 26th of August), while BET’s Diarra From Detroit blends heartbreak, humour and mystery in one unforgettable ride (from the 31st of August).

There’s also a battle royale brewing in Survivor Australia: Australia vs The World (on M-Net from the 31st of August) pitting iconic contestants from across the globe against each other in a no-holds-barred showdown.

TLC gets personal with Trapped! What Is Happening To Wendy Williams?, a documentary digging into the former talk show host’s controversial conservatorship from the 31st of August, while MM1 brings the fantasy mayhem with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel that’s both creepy and kooky in the best Tim Burton way. This film is airing on the 9th of August at 3 PM (in case you were wondering).

Other highlights include Luxury Listings, Naming the Dead, The Secret Life of Trees, Big Cats 24/7, Fatal Destination, and 911: Did The Killer Call? – each offering their own slice of intrigue, beauty, or suspense.

And don’t forget the real-life drama of the Shaka iLembe finale, Springboks vs. Australia action, MTN8 clashes, and the return of Premier League football – all lined up across Supersport.

August is shaping up to be a full-blown content fest on DStv, so whether you’re in the mood to laugh, cry, gasp or binge – best clear your schedule.
